The most Caribbean and most relaxing of all excursions. Saona Island is a true tropical paradise with white sand, turquoise waters, and lush green palm trees. It is part of the Eastern National Park, which means there are no hotels or permanent residents here. The only exception is the small fishing village of Mano Juan, located far from the tourist beaches. On the way to the island, we make a stop at the stunning “Blue Lagoon,” home to beautiful starfish.
Tour Itinerary
We depart from your hotel at the agreed time and head to the port town of Bayahibe, the main departure point for trips to the Eastern National Park. The drive takes approximately 50 minutes.
At the port, we board a motorboat with a canopy for shade. After a 40-minute ride, we arrive at Saona Island, where we will spend most of our day.
Once on the island, you can swim, sunbathe, take breathtaking photos on the pristine beach, and stroll under the palm trees. For an additional cost, you can try fresh lobster, enjoy an authentic Piña Colada served in a pineapple, or sip on fresh coconut water. In short, there will be plenty to do!
After our relaxing time on Saona, we board the boat again and head toward the mangrove forest. These unique trees grow directly in the water, forming their own special ecosystem, and it’s common to spot sea turtles here.
Our final stop is the “Blue Lagoon.” This shallow, wave-free area features warm, crystal-clear waters and soft white sand, making it the perfect place for a swim. Plus, you’ll have the chance to see and photograph the resident starfish! We relax, sip on Cuba Libre, and capture more unforgettable memories.
What to Bring for Your Saona Island Adventure
Since this is a beach excursion, casual and comfortable attire is recommended—swimwear, light shorts, tank tops, and simple flip-flops. A cap or hat is essential for sun protection, as you’ll be outdoors all day. Don’t forget sunglasses, a beach towel, and most importantly, sunscreen with SPF 50+, even if you already have a tan!
